Meet the Superintendent
Paul O’Malley, Ed. D. Superintendent, Butler School District 53
Dr. O’Malley began as superintendent of Butler on July 1, 2019. A highly experienced 甘肃快3走势图 administrator, Dr. O’Malley has provided leadership to both large acclaimed unit districts and small diverse 甘肃快3走势图 systems in the Chicago suburban region. He served as associate superintendent of 甘肃快3走势图s at Oswego Community Unit School District 308, assistant superintendent for business services at Niles Township High School District 219 and
Glenbard Township School District 87 and director of finance, operations and human services for the Ridgeland School District. Most recently, he served as superintendent of Norridge School District 80.
In these roles, he helped pass a bond referendum, developed strategic plans, directed multi-year capital plans, increased opportunities for virtual learning, coordinated Professional Learning Communities for educators, negotiated successful teacher contracts, initiated STEM programs, raised academic achievement, among others.
Dr. O’Malley began his education career teaching high 甘肃快3走势图 chemistry, natural science, and physics, first at Maine South High School, then at Stevenson High School. He also played baseball for the Houston Astros organization.
Dr. O’Malley received his doctorate in educational leadership from National Louis University, Chicago, and his Type 75 superintendent endorsement from Loyola University, Chicago. Dr. O’Malley received his bachelor of science in chemistry education from DePaul University, Chicago, and two masters’ – one in education leadership and another in special education, both from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago.
Dr. O’Malley is known for his ability to lead a District through a “student-first” mindset. He is committed to ensuring that the social-emotional needs of students are met while raising the bar for student achievement. He is also known for his work collaboratively with an emphasis on teamwork and transparency. At the same time, Dr. O’Malley is committed to fiscally sound and sustainable practices to ensure every student receives a world-class education. In addition to his leadership roles, he has authored publications and presented on educational topics at numerous state and national conferences. Topics have included educational leadership, professional development, green and energy initiatives, STEM, change strategies and others.
